Hearthstone by the Bay in Etobicoke is seeking: Registered Practical Nurse Hearthstone staff demonstrates a genuine interest to work with members of the Hearthstone Club by promoting their independence, wellness and delivering the highest standard of customer service. We are seeking a passionate, caring Registered Practical Nurse to provide emergency response to all residents of Hearthstone by the Bay, and direct nursing care to contracted residents of the wellness centre. The incumbent has the ability to work independently, and as part of a team, and can tolerate moderate walking and standing, and capable of safely providing a 2 person transfer. Flexibility in scheduling is available to fill day shifts, evenings, nights and weekends. The ideal candidate has successfully earned a certificate of competency for Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, and has current CPR training. A minimum of 2 years experience is required and a demonstrated knowledge of nursing and health care practices and techniques includes courses. Experience in a seniors’ setting would be ideal, not a requirement. The incumbent has a positive attitude, and the commitment to meet the expectation and needs of our residents to for service, quality, friendliness, and a demonstrated commitment to care. A willingness to learn, and embrace a condominium model of independent living is a must. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Provide direct nursing care to residents including administration of medication and treatment procedures in accordance with established nursing standards and principles, doctor orders and administrative policies. Documents and maintains accurate records of residents health status, healthcare requirements, nursing care provided and resident response to care in resident charts. Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care treatments, and communicates issues of significant change in the condition of the resident to the resident’s family/POA, Director of Wellness, and Hearthstone physician, if required. Train fellow RPN’s, and supervise PSW’s in conjunction with the Director of Wellness. Assist with doctor days, flu clinics, palliative care, and leads a team to be the best they can be.
